Yoshi can be saved in Super Mario Sunshine. Yoshi has been one of the most popular characters in the Super Mario series since Super Mario World returned to the Super Nintendo. This dinosaur (Yoshi), along with the twin brother Luigi, is Mario's trusted companion. Mario is able to ride Yoshi and use its various abilities, such as being able to eat enemies, breathe fire, fly or use Ground Pound. In Super Mario Sunshine, Yoshi remains relatively unchanged. He is described as a green bipedal dinosaur that captures enemies with his tongue and beat them back. Yoshi is used for spitting out the juice that will melt away certain barriers hidden around Isle Delfino. The only problem here is that Mario must first rescue Yoshi before he can ride him.

Since his appearance, Yoshi has become a major character in subsequent games.

In Super Mario Sunshine, players can play as Yoshi, but there are a few things they need to do. Read the guide below to learn how to unlock Yoshi.

Super Mario Sunshine received renewed attention in the recent Super Mario 3D All-Stars announcement. In the series, players can find Mario's biggest 3D adventures of the past, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. Although, this series is completely devoid of Super Mario Galaxy 2. In Super Mario Sunshine, Mario, Princess Peach and a couple of Toads are on vacation on the tropical island of Isle Delfino where Mario is immediately found guilty and is ordered to clean up the polluted island. Yoshi can make this job a little easier. Players can unlock them in Super Mario Sunshine.

Unlock Yoshi

To unlock Yoshi, players must first complete the fourth episode of Pinna Park. This is the event where Mario must get rid of Koopa Troopas in the park. After completing this, return to Delfino Plaza and find Shadow Mario who has the Yoshi Egg. Chase him and spray at him with Fludd until he crashes. The egg will remain in that location with a small image indicating the fruit needed for Yoshi to be hatched. Head to the fruit market on the beach and grab the fruit that Yoshi requested. Bring it to the egg which will then hatch into Yoshi. Now, whenever Mario needs them, Yoshi will appear on the roof. But please be careful: this version of Yoshi will die when it falls into deep water.

Use Yoshi

Now that you have hatched your eggs, you can now use Yoshi in your adventures. Players can jump on top of Yoshi to ride him. You can also unload by pressing the “X” button. Use Yoshi as you control Mario.

He can use the “A” button to jump and even use the “L” button for aerial attack. You can also use Yoshi to glide through the air and reach other areas. Use the “A” button in the air so Yoshi can hover.

Yoshi's Abilities

Yoshi's abilities are very similar to his previous versions. Players can use his tongue to grab or devour enemies and grab fruits and eat them as well.

In Super Mario Sunshine, Yoshi will constantly need fruit to power up his life meter. Each time he eats fruit, he will change color and refill his life meter. After hatching, Yoshi will always add full color bars with the fruit you recently fed him.

The color bar will gradually decrease as you use Yoshi. Yoshi can also use his juice for several other purposes. He can spit juice to remove the orange zigzags that block the entrance, or to transform different enemies into platforms that you can then jump onto.

When Yoshi runs out of juice, he will return to his egg, so make sure you have the most fulfilling time with Yoshi.
